SUSPENSION: FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
NOTICE:
Be sure to read the ''PRECAUTION'' thoroughly before servicing Suspension Control System.
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal
3. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER Removal
4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
- After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

5. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP Installation
6. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH Removal
8. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT DISC Removal
10. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Removal
11. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Removal
12. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH Removal
13. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Removal
14. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal
15. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal
16. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
17. DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Remove the nut, and then remove the bracket of the front height control sensor LH.
18. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Remove the 2 nuts and front stabilizer link assembly LH.
HINT: If the stud bolt turns with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud bolt.

19. REMOVE AIR CONNECTOR CLIP HOLDER





(a) Pinch and pull the air connector clip holder to release the No. 1 connector.
20. DISCONNECT NO. 4 HEIGHT CONTROL TUBE
(a) Pinch and pull the No. 1 tube connector to release it.





(b) Using SST, disconnect the No. 4 height control tube from the front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH.
SST: 09730-00010
NOTICE:
After pulling out the height control tube, replace the O-ring and plate with new ones.

21. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal
23. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP LH





(a) Remove the 3 nuts and front shock absorber cap LH.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
24. REMOVE ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR





(a) Turn the absorber control actuator counterclockwise 40° and remove it from the front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH.
25. REMOVE FRONT PNEUMATIC SHOCK ABSORBER WITH CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Remove the nut and upper front shock absorber bracket plate, and disconnect the lower front shock absorber bracket sub-assembly LH from the front No. 1 suspension lower arm LH.





(b) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the skid control sensor wire from the front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH.





(c) Remove the 3 nuts and front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH.
NOTICE:
Hold the front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH to prevent it from dropping.

26. REMOVE LOWER FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Remove the bolt and lower front shock absorber bracket sub-assembly LH.
27. REMOVE FRONT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER O-RING LH
HINT: If replacing the front pneumatic shock absorber with cylinder assembly LH with a new one, this procedure is not necessary.





(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 clips and remove the tube connector.





(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the plate and 2 O-rings.
