DOOR / HATCH: HOOD SUPPORT: INSTALLATION
NOTICE:
- Avoid touching the stroke portions of the rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinders while servicing.
- Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.
- Do not apply any load to the cylinders in the horizontal direction in order to prevent the rod from being deformed.
HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. INSTALL NO. 1 HOOD SUPPORT BOLT
(a) When replacing the No. 1 hood support bolt with a new one:
(1) Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.





(2) Install the No. 1 hood support bolt.
Torque: 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)
(b) When reusing the No. 1 hood support bolt:
(1) Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.
(2) Apply adhesive to the threads of the No. 1 hood support bolt.
Adhesive:
Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent





(3) Install the No. 1 hood support bolt.
Torque: 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL HOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the stop ring to the hood support assembly.






(b) Install the hood support assembly.
NOTICE: Install the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

(c) Check that the hood support assembly is engaged in the ball joint and it cannot be pulled out.
