OIL PUMP

Components:

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a. Remove the plug, spring and relief valve.

2. REMOVE OIL PUMP ROTOR SET
a. Remove the 10 screws, pump body cover and the drive and driven rotors.

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a. Coat the relief valve with engine oil and drop it into the relief valve hole.
b. Check that the relief valve falls smoothly by its own weight.

HINT: If it does not, replace the relief valve. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.

2. INSPECT OIL PUMP ROTOR SET
a. Install the rotors to the oil pump body and align the rotor's matchmarks.

b. Using a feeler gauge, measure the tip clearance between the drive and driven rotor tips.

Tip Clearance:

If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace it with a new drive and driven rotor set.

c. Using a feeler gauge and precision straightedge, measure the side clearance between the rotor and precision straightedge.

Side Clearance:

If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace it with a new drive and driven rotor set.

d. Using a feeler gauge, measure the body clearance between the oil pump body and driven rotor.

Body Clearance:

If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump assembly.

REPLACEMENT

1. REMOVE OIL PUMP SEAL
a. Using a screwdriver, pry out the seal.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

NOTICE: To protect the oil pump body while prying out the seal, place a wooden block between the screwdriver and oil pump body.

2. INSTALL OIL PUMP SEAL
a. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the oil pump body edge.
SST 09316-60011 (09316-00011)

NOTICE: Be careful not to tap the oil seal in at an angle.

b. Apply a small amount of MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.

REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP ROTOR SET
a. Place the drive and driven rotors into the pump body with the marks facing the pump body cover side.

b. Install the pump body cover with the 10 screws.
Torque: 10 Nm (105 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)

2. INSTALL OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a. Insert the relief valve and compression spring into the oil pump body hole.
b. Install the plug.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
