Input Shaft Seal
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Remove the transmission assembly.

WARNING: Do not let the torque converter drop out of the transmission. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
3 Using the special tools, remove the torque converter. Drain any remaining fluid into a suitable container.
WARNING: Make sure the transmission housing seal face is not damaged when removing the torque converter seal. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
4 Using the special tools, remove the input shaft seal.
NOTE:
Using a suitable metal surface cleaner meeting Jaguar specification. clean the seal face on the housing before fitting the new seal.
5 Clean and inspect the transmission housing seal face.
Installation
1 Using the special tool, install a new input shaft seal.
WARNING: Do not let the torque converter drop out of the transmission. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
The torque converter hub must engage fully in the oil pump drive gear.
2 Using the special tools, install the torque converter. Remove the special tools.
3 Install the transmission assembly.
