Special Service Tools





Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the transfer case.

CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damage to the seal register and running surface.

4. Remove the transmission output shaft oil seal.
^ Use the special tool.





Installation

CAUTION: Oil seals must be fitted dry.

1. Install a new transmission output shaft oil seal.
^ Clean the seal register.
^ Use the special tool.





2. Install the transfer case.
3. Check and top-up the transmission fluid level.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
