Engine Cooling

Radiator

Service Repair No - 26.40.01


Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air intake resonator.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

4. Drain the cooling system.
5. Release the 2 coolant hoses from the cooling fan shroud.
^ Release from the 4 clips.





6. Remove the cooling fan shroud lower securing clip.





7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Release the coolant expansion tank.
^ Remove the 2 bolts.
^ Release from the clip.
^ Tie the coolant expansion tank aside.





9. If installed, release the pollution sensor.





10. Release the cooling fan wiring harness.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Release the 2 clips.





11. Disconnect the 2 upper coolant hoses from the radiator.
^ Release the 2 clips.





12. NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Disconnect the upper coolant hose from the coolant manifold.
^ Position the radiator top hose aside to allow the fan shroud to be positioned fully - rearwards.





13. Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud upper clips.

NOTE: The cooling fan shroud is split to aid removal.

Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud Torx screws.





15. CAUTION: Always protect the cooling pack elements to prevent accidental damage.

NOTE: The thread is right handed.

Using the special tools, release the cooling fan.





16. Remove the cooling fan and shroud.
1) Position the shroud rearwards to clear the AC pipe.
2) Remove the cooling fan between the shroud and AC pipe.
3) Remove the shroud.

Disconnect the 2 lower coolant hoses from the radiator.
^ Release the two clips.

NOTE: Surrounding components shown removed for clarity.

Displace the remaining section of the shroud from the radiator assembly.





19. Release the radiator assembly.
^ Remove the 2 screws.
^ Remove the 2 support brackets.





20. With assistance, remove the radiator.
^ Displace the top of the radiator assembly rearwards.
^ Slide the radiator from the retaining block.





Installation
1. With assistance, install the radiator assembly.
^ Slide the radiator into the retaining block.

2. Install the support brackets.
^ Tighten the screws.

3. Install the lower section of the fan shroud.
4. Connect the radiator lower coolant hoses.
5. Install the cooling fan and shroud.
1) Install the shroud leaving clearance to install the cooling fan between the shroud and AC pipe.
2) Install the cooling fan.
3) Fully install the shroud and position the cooling fan in the center of the shroud.
4) Using the special tools, secure the cooling fan.

6. Secure the upper section of the fan shroud.
1) Secure the wiring connector in the shroud.
2) Secure with the 2 clips.
3) Install the 2 Torx screws.

7. Connect the upper coolant hose to the coolant manifold.
8. Connect the 2 upper coolant hoses to the radiator.
9. Connect the cooling fan wiring harness.
10. If installed, secure the pollution sensor.
11. Install the coolant expansion tank.
^ Secure with the clip.
^ Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).

12. Raise the vehicle.
13. Install the cooling fan shroud lower securing clip.
14. Secure the 2 lower coolant hoses to the shroud.
15. Install the air intake resonator.
16. Connect the battery ground cable.
17. Refill and bleed the cooling system.
