Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module - Vehicles With: Standard BrakesService Repair No - 70.25.12
Removal
CAUTION: Make sure the ignition switch is in position 0.
NOTE: The hydraulic control unit (HCU) mounted to the ABS module cannot be serviced separately. If the HCU requires replacement, then the ABS module must be replaced as a complete assembly.
1. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the engine cover.
^ Remove the oil filler cap.
^ Release the 4 retainers.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Release the latch.
^ Move the electrical connector aside.
5. CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing components, ensure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open connections to prevent contamination.
NOTE: Note the fitted position.
Release the 6 brake fluid lines.
^ Position an absorbent cloth to collect fluid spillage.
6. Remove the ABS module.
^ Loosen but do not remove the 2 nuts.
^ Release from the locating grommet.
Installation
1. NOTE: Make sure the ABS module locating grommet is correctly seated in the bracket before installing the ABS module.
NOTE: Make sure the ABS module locating pin is correctly located in the grommet, and the 2 isolators are fully seated in the bracket slots.
Install the ABS module.
^ Tighten the nuts to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs).
^ Tighten the M10 and M12 unions to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs).
^ Tighten the M14 union to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs).
2. Connect the electrical connector.
^ Secure the latch.
3. Install the engine cover.
4. Using T4, bleed the braking system.
