Brakes - DSC Lamp ON/ABS Noise When Cornering

No.: LM-206-001

Issue: 1

Date: December 09, 2005

SECTION: 206-07

ABS Noise During Cornering

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Range Rover (LM) VIN 6A198058 to 6A214897

CONDITION SUMMARY:
NOISE FROM THE ABS SYSTEM

NOTE:
Normal DSC will provide a DSC warning lamp and ABS noise when cornering forces are high and steering inputs are large. The driver would expect to be near cornering limits of the vehicle in these conditions.

A customer may report a concern that very intermittently when cornering at low speeds or cornering on a large radius at higher speed with low cornering forces (when DSC intervention would not be expected) a noise is coming from the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) warning lamp illuminates.

Cause:
The ABS yaw rate tune is too sensitive.

Action:
Should a customer express concern with the above symptoms, a new-specification ABS modulator unit is to be installed. Follow the Repair Procedure outlined in this bulletin.
