Adjusting Range Rover Speed-Dependant Radio Volume

SITUATION

Some customers may want increased or decreased speed-dependent Audio volume adjustments. The process can be performed quite easily using the standard radio controls as described in TIB 86/11/03/NAS.

RESOLUTION

NOTE:
"GAL" is the German acronym for speed dependant volume derived from the term "Geshwindigkeits Abhaengige Laustaerkeregelung".

Range Rover vehicle audio systems have the option of making the speed dependant volume adjustments more or less sensitive to changes in vehicle speed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

^ Start by ensuring radio is turned off (power LED by left rotary knob is not illuminated)

^ Turn radio on (press left rotary knob until power LED comes on)

^ Press and hold "SELECT" button until service mode is displayed.

^ To view current GAL, press < > button until "GAL" is displayed.

^ To change GAL setting, use presets 1 thru 6 to alter the GAL setting.

On "Logic 7" equipped vehicles, there is also a speed dependant volume feature on the amplifier. If necessary it can be disabled by backing-out p/n C2415 Pin 10 (Brown/Red - NR) from the amp connector.
