SITUATION:
HARD PLASTIC VACUUM PORT CAP CAN CRACK AND LEAK
An early design hard plastic vacuum port cap was installed on a small range of vehicles. The plastic cap can split, causing the vehicle to run rough and possibly experience a MIL light illumination. Upon investigation of a MIL light, the P-codes will indicate a lean mixture.
RESOLUTION:
INSPECT AND REPLACE PLASTIC CAP
At the first service opportunity, or before the sale of the vehicle, the cap covering the intake plenum vacuum port is to be inspected, and if indicated replaced. Inspect to verify the presence of a hard plastic cap. Replace that cap with the new compliant rubber part.
