Wiper Mechanism Washer Corrosion

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Discovery Series II (LT) Up to YA248339

SITUATION:

DETERIORATING WASHER APPEARANCE

Poor finish durability may cause a customer complaint regarding deteriorating appearance of the washers behind the wiper arms on the windshield wiper mechanism.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE DETERIORATED WASHERS

Improved durability washers have been introduced into production as of the above VIN. These washers are now available as spare parts to be installed to resolve customer complaints.

Install replacement wiper assembly washers

NOTE:
Warranty Claims for the renewal of complete wiper mechanisms for the condition described, will not be accepted.

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Refer to Figure 1 and remove the original washers as follows:

^ Remove wiper arm nut (B) and the arm.

^ Remove wiper assembly nut (A).

^ Remove and discard the deteriorated washer.

2. Install the new washers, (DLL000010) as follows:

^ Position the new washer and install the mechanism nut (A).

^ Tighten the wiper mechanism nut (A) to 7Nm (62 lbf.in.).

^ Install the wiper arm and tighten the wiper arm nut (B) to 15Nm (133 lbf.in.).

3. Go to Step 1 and repeat procedure for the alternate side.
