Sunroof Removal

CAUTION:
If the build date is after 24 July 1997 or if the sunroof is marked by a yellow paint dot, DO NOT modify the sunroof.

CAUTION:
A workspace must be prepared with protective material in anticipation of bench work on the sunroof. The sunroof glass will be placed on the bench and must be protected from damage.

1. Fully close the rattling or jammed sunroof.

2. Disconnect motor wiring multi-plug.

3. Remove three motor retaining screws and remove the motor.

4. Disconnect drain tubes from each side of clamping/lower frame assembly.

5. Remove 14 fasteners and remove clamping/lower frame assembly from upper frame.

* CAUTION:
It is important to identify that the clamping/lower frame assembly is the latest configuration. The correct clamping/lower frame assembly contains recesses for frame rail clearance next to the forward mounting screw locations. If the clamping/lower frame is of the early design, it must be replaced with STC1686 which contains the required recesses.

6. Refer to Figure 2 and identify clamping/lower frame assembly as the latest configuration with recessed areas for rails. *

7. Remove upper frame assembly.

8. Place glass and upper frame assembly upside down on prepared work surface.
