Campaign - Brake Fluid Filter Replacement

No: H362
Ref:
Issue: 1
Date: 07/02/99

SERVICE ACTION:

Brake Fluid Filter Specification Change

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

DISCOVERY Series II (LT) XA2 00412 to XA 211775
XA9 00000 to XA 906628

SITUATION:

BRAKE FLUID FILTER

The brake fluid filter fitted to early Discovery Series II vehicles contains a single 3mm (0.120 in.) drain hole. In the event of a drop in fluid level, this hole allows fluid to drain through the filter, and if fluid levels continue to drop, it will cause the float switch to activate. Fitting a filter with two 5mm (0.200 in.) holes enhances the draining characteristics.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE BRAKE FLUID FILTER WITH NEW SPECIFICATION FILTER

Replace the existing Brake Reservoir Filter with a revised filter (SID 100040) at the first opportunity during warranty work or at the next maintenance service. The new filter can be identified by its two 5mm (0.200 in.) drain holes.
