Rattle in Right A-pillar

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

SITUATION:

COAXIAL CABLE/WIRING HARNESS RATTLE ON THE "A-POST"

Customers may complain of a tapping or rattle in the right "A-post" area. The rattle may be the result of wiring harness contact with the pillar trim.

RESOLUTION:

ISOLATE HARNESS

When investigating a customer complaint for the symptoms outlined above, wrap the wiring and coaxial cable located in the "A-post" behind the trim with tape and secure as outlined in the procedure.

STC3905 Foam Tape As Required

Install anti-rattle foam tape on wiring harness

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





CAUTION:
Care must be taken to avoid damage to "A-post" trim when removing.

REMOVE TRIM AND RELEASE WIRING

1. Carefully release the clips securing the right hand "A-post" trim. (Figure 1)

2. Disconnect the multi-plug from the speaker.

3. Remove right hand "A-post" trim.

4. Release the body tags securing the coaxial cable.

WRAP AND INSTALL WIRING

1. Twist foam tape around the cable from top to bottom.

2. Reposition cable and secure with body locating tabs.

3. Connect the multi-plug to the speaker.

4. Locate "A-post" trim and snap into position.
