SITUATION:
REPLACEMENT KEY INOPERATIVE
A customer may complain that a dealer cut replacement key does not operate the door locks or the ignition. This may be the result of using a key blank with the wrong profile.
RESOLUTION:
USE A KEY BLANK THAT HAS THE CORRECT PROFILE
When a replacement key is requested, ensure that the key blank has the correct profile for use in the key cuffing machine (Figure 1 Profile A). When producing an extra key using the key duplication machine, either profile A or B may be used (Figure 1).
