Rattle In Center Console

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Discovery Series II (LT) Up to XA216045

SITUATION:

EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT AND RATTLES IN THE CENTER CONSOLE

The customer may complain of raffling or knocking noises as a result of side to side movement of the center console. Free-play in the securing cage nuts, may be the cause of up to 4mm of console travel.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE CAGE NUTS

To resolve a customer complaint of center console raffle as described above, remove the original console securing bolt cage nuts. Install new nuts NK106061L.

PARTS INFORMATION:

NK106060L Cage Nuts Qty 4

WARRANTY CLAIMS:

76.25.01 Time 0.80 hrs.
Replace cage nuts with new specification nuts

FAULT CODE: G

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Refer to WSM 76.25.01 and remove center console.





2. Replace each cage nut as follows:

^ Compress side retainer clips of original cage nut. (Figure 1)

^ Remove and discard cage nut.

^ Install new cage nut (NK106061L) into bracket opening.

3. When all four cage nuts are replaced, refer to WSM 76.25.01 and install center console.
