SITUATION:
REAR SEAT LATCH STRAPS BROKEN
The customer may experience separation of the strap from its securing rivets due to insufficient reinforcement stitching.
RESOLUTION:
INSTALL NEW STRENGTHENED REPLACEMENT COMPONENT
A modified strap with additional stitching has been developed and is fitted to all vehicles from the safe VIN quoted above. The improved strap is available as a repair kit (VUB000130) for installation using the two replacement retaining rivets provided in the kit as described below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Carefully center mark and drill out both rivets used to secure the damaged or broken strap.
2. Position the ends of the new strap on either side of the lever.
3. Insert the new rivets supplied in the kit through the strap webbing and the seat release lever. (Figure 1)
4. Press the two halves of the rivets together with your fingers until they seat together.
5. Protect the outer surfaces of the rivets to avoid marring.
NOTE:
Initially the rivet will resist compression and then it will compress approximately 3 mm (1/8 inch).
6. Using large parallel jaw pliers, compress the two halves of each rivet together to secure the strap to the lever.
