REPAIR PROCEDURE:
INSTALLATION OF COLLARS ONTO SECOND ROW SEAT HINGES
1. Fold both second seats fully forward.
2. Prepare each of the two outboard hinge assemblies as follows:
^ Remove the two trim cover securing screws and remove the trim piece from the seat (Figure 1).
^ Mask the area around the over-travel stop pin (Figure 2).
^ Using sand paper, remove the paint from the stop pin.
^ Place one offset drilled collar onto the stop pin and ensure that the collar can rotate freely 360°(Figure 3).
^ Remove the collar from the stop pin.
3. Go to step 2 and repeat for the alternate side.
CAUTION:
Seepage of Loctite 638 onto other hinge or seat components may adversely affect seat operation.
NOTE:
After applying Loctite 638 to the stop pin, the remainder of collar installation process must be completed within the ten minute set time of the adhesive.
4. Perform the following collar installation process for each of the two outboard hinge assemblies:
^ Apply Loctite 638 to the stop pin (Figure 2).
^ Install a collar onto the Loctite coated stop pin (Figure 3).
^ Rotate the collar on the pin to ensure thorough Loctite distribution throughout the offset collar hole (Figure 3).
^ Latch the seat bases to the floor.
NOTE:
Before the seat backs can be latched, it may be necessary to rotate the collars on the stop pins. This process should be performed from behind the seat so that no load is being placed on the seat back.
^ Latch the seat back in its upright position.
^ Close both side doors.
^ From a position behind the seat, press forward against the latched seat back to remove all freeplay.
^ Continue to press against the seat back and rotate the offset drilled collar until its edge is against the edge of the cushion pivot plate (Figure 3).
^ Leave seat back in position while continuing the repair procedure on alternate side.
5. Go to step 4 and repeat for the uncorrected side.
6. Leave both seat backs undisturbed in position, for a minimum of three hours.
7. After the three hour set period, verify that the free play has been eliminated, and that seat back release effort is acceptable.
8. Fold seats forward, and install trim covers.
