ALARM SENSOR CAUSED UNPREDICTABLE ACTIVATION
Early production vehicles were built with a software glitch within the alarm system, which caused the alarm to activate at unpredictable times if the rear motion sensor was connected. Although the rear sensor was installed in production, it should not be electrically connected. A new specification sensor has been made available to replace the earlier design.
RESOLUTION:

At the first opportunity, either during warranty work or at the next service, replace the rear volumetric sensor on 1999MY Discovery Series II vehicles with the new specification sensor.
PARTS INFORMATION:
NOTE:
The new style volumetric sensor (YWC107000K) may be used at the rear of the vehicle in combination with the original type sensor (YWC106520LUM) at the front. The new sensor may also be used in BOTH locations.
Under no circumstances may two original sensors (YWC106520LUM) be used in the same vehicle.
