Windshield Noise

SITUATION:
WIND NOISE FROM FRONT WINDSHIELD AREA
A possible leak path exists around the windshield that can generate noise or permit leakage.
RESOLUTION:
Complaints of wind noise from the windshield area on vehicles within the above VIN ranges will require confirmation of the source of wind noise and replacement of the windshield with a new one if indicated.

Road test and water test for leakage. Replace Windshield.

NOTE:
Wind noise symptoms will appear early in vehicle life. LRNA will honor claims within the first 12 months or 15,000 miles.
Normal warranty policy and procedures apply
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Road test the vehicle and check for wind noise in the front windshield area.
2. Check for proper fit of the windshield trim.
CAUTION:
Use towels or other absorbent material to ensure any penetrating water drops do not cause damage to the interior.
3. If wind noise is confirmed, check front windshield for possible water ingress as follows:
^ Lift the top windshield finisher as shown in Figure 1.
^ Use a water bottle or low pressure hose with a fine spray and introduce water behind the finisher along the entire width of the windshield.
^ Observe for water ingress inside the vehicle.
4. If water ingress is confirmed, the front windshield must be replaced using a new windshield.
NOTE:
Cure times must be strictly adhered to when fitting a new front windshield.
5. Refer to Workshop Manual, Body Repair Section, and perform repair number 76.81.01 to replace the windshield.
