Exploded View Of Rear Brake Caliper:






NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) below refer to numbers in the illustration.

REMOVAL
1. Remove rear road wheels.
2. Using a suitable hose clamp, clamp flexible brake hose above rear axle.
3. Disconnect brake pipe from rear brake caliper.
4. Seal pipe ends to prevent ingress of dirt.
5. Remove retaining pins (9), then pads (4).

NOTE: If same pads are to be reinstalled, identify them for assembly in original positions.

6. Remove caliper mounting bolts, then caliper from rear axle.

INSTALLATION
1. Install caliper and mounting bolts to axle, then tighten bolts evenly to 82 Nm (60 Ft. lbs.).
2. Connect brake pipe to caliper. then tighten union nuts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove clamp from flexible brake hose.
4. Insert pads (4) and retaining springs (3), secure in position with new retaining pins (9) and spread ends.

NOTE: Ensure retaining springs are located correctly.

5. Bleed brake system. Service and Repair
6. Press brake pedal firmly several times to locate pads.
7. Install road wheels, then tighten lug nuts to 130 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).
8. Road test vehicle.

CAUTION: New brake pads require "bedding-in" for several hundred miles before brakes are at maximum efficiency.
