Front Brake Caliper & Pads:






NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) below refer to numbers in the illustrations.

CAUTION: When retracting piston, ensure that displaced brake fluid does not overflow from reservoir.

REMOVAL
1. Remove front road wheels.
2. Clean exterior of calipers.
3. Remove split (cotter) pin (3) from retaining pins.
4. Remove pad retaining pins (4) and anti-rattle springs.
5. Remove brake pads (5).
6. Clean exposed parts of pistons, using new brake fluid. Wipe away excess with a lint free cloth.

Retracting Caliper Piston:





7. Using piston clamp tool No. LRT-70-500, or equivalent (7), press each piston back into its bore.

INSTALLATION
1. Install brake pads (5).
2. Install pad retaining pins (4) and anti-rattle springs. Secure with new split (cotter) pins (3).
3. Apply service brake pedal several times to locate pads.
4. Install road wheels, tighten lugs to 130 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).
5. Check brake fluid level and top off with specified fluid as required.
6. Road test vehicle.

NOTE: New friction pads require "bedding-in"; this may take several hundred miles before brakes are at maximum efficiency.
