Installation
1. Apply grease between seal lips. Install the new seal, lip side first, into hub using tool # LRT-54-011 and driver # LRT-99-003 (figure 2). Install seal flush with rearface of hub.
2. Install hub assembly to axle.
3. Install spacing washer.
4. Fit hub nut.
5. Torque hub nut to 50 Nm (37 lbf. ft).
6. Rotate hub assembly and ensure free rotation with no bearing play.
7. Back nut off 90° and torque to 10 Nm (90 lb. in.). This will give the required end play of 0.01 mm (0.0004).
8. Fit locking tab washer.
9. Fit second hub nut and torque to 50 Nm (37 lbf. ft).
10. Lock both inner and outer nuts with locking tab washer.
11. Install new gasket on driving member and install driving member to hub and secure with five bolts. Tighten to 61 Nm (45 lbf. ft.).
12. Install original axle shaft shim(s) and secure with snap ring.
13. To check axle shaft end play, mount a dial indicator using bracket # LRT-99-503 and rest pin in a loaded condition on the end of the drive shaft (figure 3).
14. Install a suitable bolt to the threaded end of the axle shaft. Move shaft in and out and note the dial indicator reading. End play should be between 0.08 to 0.25 mm (0.003 to 0.01 in).
15. If end play requires adjustment, remove snap ring, measure shim thickness, and fit an appropriate shim to give required end play.
16. Remove bolt from axle shaft, fit snap ring and dust cap.
17. Install brake caliper and tighten to 82 Nm (61 lbf. ft).
18. Bleed brake system.
19. Install road wheel, remove jack stands, and tighten lug nuts to 126 Nm (93 lbf. ft).
20. Operate foot brake to locate brake pads before road test.
