Inspection

1. Ensure sunroof is fully closed and water test the sunroof.

2. Check for water dripping from the sunroof catch/motor and headlining. If water is dripping, perform Repair Procedure 1.

3. Check for water appearing from between sunroof glass and the seal along the front edge of the sunroof. if water appears, perform Repair Procedure 2.

Repair Procedure 1

1. Remove front inner sunroof catch cover and check for water.

2. Remove 2 Torx(R) head screws (T20) and remove the sunroof catch body.

3. Using a flashlight and probe, check for the presence of the water dam gasket. The gasket can be identified by cross hatching on the surface. If a probe is inserted inside the catch and glass contact is made, the gasket is missing.

4. If the gasket is missing, replace the glass panel with a new glass panel assembly (STC 1684).

5. If the gasket is present, reinstall the catch. Tighten the catch screws to 2 Nm. (18 lb.. in.).

6. Ensure a 6.5 mm (1/4 in.) gap exists between the front edge of the sunroof and the inside of the upper frame.

7. If a new sunroof assembly is used, check sunroof operation and test for water entry.

Repair Procedure 2

1. Tilt and open the sunroof.

2. Stretch a piece of tape across the 2 capnuts that fit through the glass sunroof to prevent movement.

3. Remove the front glass Torx(R) head screws (T20).

4. Carefully lift the glass enough to remove the existing spacers. Replace the 2 spacers with 2 thinner type spacers (STC 2991).

5. Install the screws and tighten to 2.9-3.0 Nm. (25-27.5 lb. in.).

6. Remove tape.

7. Check sunroof operation and test for water entry.
