Engine Oil Dipstick/Oil Fill Quantity

Questions concerning the correct oil fill quantity/dipstick level should be addressed using this bulletin.

The correct refill quantity for all U.S./Canadian specification Range Rover and Defender engines to date is:

With filter change: 7.1 U.S. quarts (6.66 liters)

Without filter change: 6.5 U.S. quarts (6.10 liters)





After a complete draining and refilling with the above quantities, the dipstick will indicate approximately the following level:

When oil is topped up between services, it should never exceed the "Full" line. Operation anywhere between "Full" and "Add Oil" is acceptable.

Oil level is most accurately checked cold with the vehicle on a level surface.
