Subject:
FALSE ALARM DURING RE-LOCKING WITH 1994 LUCAS FACTORY ALARM
Prior to VIN ... RA645827, a feedback path caused by the relay that trips the interior light delay (I.L.D.) unit, may trigger a system violation during re-locking on some vehicles. This will result in the hazard light flashing and the horn sounding. This condition can be corrected on vehicles where there has been a customer complaint, by installing an additional diode in the circuit. 1994 models after the above mentioned VIN have this diode in the system, performed as a running change at the Factory.
WORK PROCEDURE
Follow the instructions incorporated into the schematic, cutting the purple/black (PB) wire near the theft alarm unit. Solder splice a new length of wire (approximately 12" by 18 gauge), insulate with heat shrink tubing and route the wire along the existing harness to connector C208, located at the left side kick panel. Cut the PB wire near C208, securely attach an insulated 1/4" male flat terminal to the end going to C208, and to the end of the new wire (two wires in one terminal). On the PB wire end going to the I.L.D. unit, securely attach an insulated 1/4" female flat terminal, and between the two terminals install the diode, Part No. AAU5034. Tape the diode to the existing harness.
