1992 Vehicle Security System - Technical Information

The Range Rover vehicle security system with keyless remote is standard equipment on most 1992 Countys and a dealer installed option on all other 1992 Range Rovers. The kit part number is RTC7715.

The alarm system consists of the following major components:

Component Location

Alarm Harness Assembly Runs from circular vehicle alarm connector in front of charcoal canister, through the firewall then behind the evaporator blowers to alarm ECU under center dash coin tray.

Alarm Siren Next to windshield washer reservoir.

Alarm System ECU Beneath center dash coin tray.

Signal Lamp Flash Relay and Fuse Behind evaporator fan close out panel.

Remote Transmitter Two supplied per vehicle.

Complete operating instructions for the system are covered in the Remote Control Vehicle Security System Owner's Manual found in the vehicle wallet. A copy is attached to this bulletin. Please become familiar with it.

Replacement remote transmitters and PROMs are available from the RRNA Parts Department. Since the RF signal sent from the transmitter to the ECU has its own unique identity, it is necessary to re-chip the vehicles alarm ECU and all remote transmitters whenever replacing a lost or damaged transmitter.
