Problem one: Sill Button Cycling

CDL TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

- Unlocks then Bounces Back To Locked Position

There are four possible causes:

Cause 1: Front or rear door inner panel distorted in sill button area.

Action: Check for excessive distortion in the areas indicated in Fig. 1. This distortion can cause stiff sill button operation resulting in a cycling button situation.

Re-align door inner panel in the distorted area until a condition similar to that shown in Fig. 2 is achieved.

Cause 2: Sill button incorrectly positioned on door inner panel, causing stiff button operation.

Action: Re-fit sill button housing centrally on upper mounting screws, also position housing as far inboard as slots in upper flange allow, see Fig. 3.

Cause 3: Trim panel not cut back sufficiently in escutcheon area, preventing proper escutcheon fit.

Action: Door trim panel should be cut back to the metal insert as shown in Fig. 4.

Cause 4: Escutcheon installed incorrectly causing stiff button operation.

Action: Ensure upper 'T' section on Escutcheon is located in the slot on the bottom housing. To refit escutcheon, first locate 'T' section in slot and push escutcheon down as far as possible, then push bottom of escutcheon in a horizontal direction to locate lower lugs.
