SUBJECT:
ALARM SYSTEM INSTALLATION - 1990/1991 M.Y.

To prevent possible damage to the electrical system and reduce installation time, the following connection points should be used when fitting an aftermarket alarm system to the Range Rover.

Central Locking System

1990-91 Range Rovers use a central locking control unit that is located on the support brace to the left of the steering column. The control unit is connected to the front door actuators. Depending on which terminal of the control unit is grounded, the system will either lock or unlock by sending the appropriate ground/voltage signal to all door lock actuators. If installing an alarm system that uses a remote locking feature, the connections should be made only as follows.

* Control Unit terminal 1, red/pink wire.
Ground this terminal for lock cycle.

* Control unit terminal 4, yellow/orange wire.
Ground this terminal for unlock cycle.

Using the above connection points will eliminate the need to remove the door panels during alarm installation.

BATTERY VOLTAGE MUST NEVER BE APPLIED TO THE CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT. DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM MAY RESULT.

Door Switches:

Directly below the steering column is an unused black 9 position plug that provides a central point for door jamb switch connections. The wiring to this connector is as follows:
