Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Description:

WARNING:
^ Before performing the following operation, perform Fuel Pressure Release Procedure to remove pressure from the fuel system to reduce the possibility of injury or fire.
^ When removing the fuel system components, keep sparks, cigarettes, and open flames away from the fuel.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the injectors.
2. Remove the injector harness from the fuel rail.
3. Remove the fuel rail bolts from the intake manifold.
4. Remove the fuel rail with the injectors and the pressure regulator.
5. Remove the injectors, grommets, and insulators.


INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation note.

Tightening torque
Delivery pipe 14 - 19 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm)

Installation note

1. Use new injector 0-rings.
2. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the 0-rings before installing.
3. Install new injector insulators.
4. Install the injectors.
