Body - Front Door Rattles When Driving Or Closing

Front Door 'Rattle' When Closing or While Driving

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
XF (X250)
VIN: R00001 - *S48193*

Model Year: 2009 - *2012*

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation: A rattle from the lower front door area may be heard when closing a front door or while driving.

Cause: This rattle may be caused by the window regulator cables contacting the speaker assembly and, in certain cases, the anti-rattle foam has degraded on the cables.

Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to rework the window regulator cable.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

RE-WORK FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR CABLE

1. Refer to Workshop Manual section 501-05 (steps 1-3 only) and remove the affected front trim panel.





2. Remove the eight (8) bolts and move aside the speaker assembly





3. Locate the window regulator cable and door harness.

NOTE:
Do not over tighten cable tie.





4. Using a locally sourced cable tie, secure the window regulator cable to the door harness.

NOTE: Use care to ensure no damage occurs to either the door harness or regulator cable.





5. Remove the excess cable tie end.

6. Install the speaker assembly. Install the eight (8) bolts.

7. Refer to Workshop Manual section 501-05 and install the front trim panel.
