REPAIR PROCEDURE

WARNING:
Suitable powder free (nitrile) gloves must be used when carrying out this Service Instruction.

CAUTION:
When unrolling the rocker panel protection kit, do not reverse-roll.

CAUTION:
When carrying out this Repair Procedure, ensure that all traces of polish, grease, etc, are removed (as shown in step 2).

CAUTION:
This Repair Procedure must be carried with ambient and vehicle body temperatures between 60 - 75°F (16 - 25°C).

CAUTION:
Film must be applied right first time. Peeling back the film once adhered may create cosmetically unacceptable lines, necessitating a new film.

CAUTION:
Cleanliness is critical; dirt under the film may be visible.

CAUTION:
Once applied it is recommended that the film is checked 1-2 hours after application to ensure correct adhesion, particularly around edges and detailed cut outs.

CAUTION:
Vehicle should not be washed for 72 hours following application.

INSTALL ROCKER PANEL PROTECTION KIT

1. Mix the Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water solution (5O-5O) in the mist spray bottle.

2. Clean the areas of left-hand (LH) rocker panel paintwork using the IPA and water solution: (Figure 1)

^ Ensure all grease and dirt is removed.

3. Lay the rocker panel protection kit onto a suitable clean, flat bench.

4. Cut the sheet in half between the two protective film sheets. (Figure 2)

5. Spray the solution onto the area of paintwork. (Figure 3)

CAUTION:
Avoid touching the adhesive when dry, as this will leave a fingerprint in the film.

*Tip: Spray some solution onto your fore finger and thumb when peeling off the backing paper.

6. Peel back the part from the sheet whilst continuously spraying the solution onto the adhesive side of the film (making sure the adhesive is fully saturated). (Figure 4)

CAUTION:
Do not go over the radius or the film may lift at the edge.

7. Gently lay the film onto the panel aligning the top corner, the film should be 2mm in from the radius of the vertical edge and 2mm down from the radius of the top edge.
(Figure 5)

CAUTION:
Take care not to trap any air or fluid as this will be visible particularly on dark vehicles.

8. Once the panel is positioned correctly, spray more solution on to the face of the film.

9. Using a suitable rocker panel protection kit film smoother, following the pattern of strokes: (Figure 6)

^ Use suitable pressure to remove any fluid and air bubbles, securing the film into place.

NOTE:
Some fluid residue cannot be removed.

10. Carefully work the solution out of the recess created by the jacking locator. (Figure 7)

11. Use the micro4iber cloth to wrap the film around the door closure inner edge. (Figure 8)

12. Repeat steps 2 - 11 to the right-hand (RH) rocker panel.
