Folding Top Glass-to-Top Bonding

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: The bonding between the folding top and the rear glass may require repair.
NOTE:
The maximum length of any one (1) area that can be re-bonded is 350mm (13.75in); up to a maximum of three (3) repairs around the glass are permitted.
Cause: This may be caused by bonding robustness between the folding top and the rear glass.
Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to re-bond the folding top to the rear glass.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. NOTE:
The maximum length of any one (1) area that can be re-bonded is 350mm (13.75in); up to a maximum of three (3) repairs around the glass are permitted.
NOTE:
Plastic peg only for clarity of repair area.
Folding top glass-to-top bond.
2. CAUTION:
Protect the surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
CAUTION:
The rear of the folding top will drop after a short period of time; use a suitable chock / prop that will not damage or mark the trim components.
Position folding top in the position shown.
3. Clean the surfaces to be repaired with Weicon surface cleaner and a lint-free cloth.
^ Allow to dry for a minimum of 10 minutes.
4. Apply masking tape along the repair spot in order to protect the glass from possible leaking adhesive.
5. NOTE:
Use a new static mixer for every repair spot.
Apply an even bead of adhesive with Teromix 6700.
6. Press folding top onto the glass.
^ Remove excess adhesive by removing the masking tape.
7. Use a suitable clamp and apply pressure to the repair spot.
^ Apply pressure for a minimum of 10 minutes.
8. Close folding top.
9. After 24 hours, test with water for at least two (2) minutes.
^ After successfully passing the water test, use a carwash for an additional water test.
