Procedure 1 - Replace Front Door Waist Finishers
REPAIR PROCEDURE 1: V00477 - V04816CAUTION:
Ensure care is taken to avoid damage to the body work.
1. Open left-hand (LH) front door.
2. Lower door glass.
3. Remove the inner cap on the front door pillar.
4. Remove the Torx bolt.
5. Apply protective tape to the gloss black portion of the door.
CAUTION:
Slightly twist the finisher past the gloss black portion of the door to prevent damage.
6. Lift and twist the rear edge of the finisher past the gloss black portion of the door.
7. Slide the front of the finisher back and out from under the door mirror.
8. Using a diluted soap and water solution, fully lubricate the mirror and waist area.
^ Lubricate the upright flange running the length of the door outer panel which the outer waist finisher rests on.
^ Lubricate the local area at the bottom of the cheater part of the door mirror where the waist finisher enters.
9. Install the new waist finisher.
^ Slide the front of the finisher forward and under (1) the rear edge of the door mirror.
^ Twist and lower (2) the rear edge of the finisher past the gloss black portion of the door.
10. Remove protective tape from the gloss black portion of door.
11. Close door.
12. Align the front and rear edges of the finisher.
^ Open door.
^ Install Torx bolt; tighten to 1.1 Nm (0.80 lbf ft).
13. Install inner cap.
14. Close window.
15. Close door.
16. Verify finisher fit.
17. Repeat steps 1 - 16 to right-hand (RH) front door.
18. Continue to next appropriate Repair Procedure.
