Differential Case






Differential Case
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
All vehicles

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.

CAUTION: Do not use the 5mm hole on the differential case flange for the alignment mark.

CAUTION: Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.

NOTE:
Using the 3mm hole on the differential case flange, paint an alignment mark (as indicated) to aid correct installation of the driveshaft to the differential case.





NOTE:
On vehicles with diesel engine, note the illustrated orientation of the special tool.

NOTE:
Make sure that the special tool is correctly installed to the recess on the driveshaft.

Special Service Tool




Remover, Driveshaft, 205-932





CAUTION: Care must be taken not to damage the surrounding components when using the special tool.

NOTE:
Using a suitable hammer and drift, make sure that you only hit the corner edges of the special tool to remove the driveshaft.

2 Support the rear differential casing.





Installation
All vehicles




M14: 190 Nm
M12: 90 Nm

Vehicles with supercharger





All vehicles





NOTE:
Make sure that the alignment mark on the driveshaft is correctly aligned to the alignment mark on the differential case.

Torque to: 75 Nm





NOTE:
This step only applies if a new driveshaft is being installed.

NOTE:
Using the 3mm hole on the differential case flange and paint alignment mark on the driveshaft (as indicated). Make sure that the alignment marks are correctly aligned.

Torque to: 75 Nm

1 Check and top-up the differential case.
Torque to: 30 Nm
