NUMBER: K032
(ISSUE 1)

DATE: 31 OCT 2008

MODEL:
XF

THIS SERVICE ACTION IS VALID FOR TWO YEARS AND WILL EXPIRE ON 30 SEPTEMBER 2010.

SECTION: 211

SERVICE ACTION:

^ Windshield Wiper Switch Permanently Switched 'On'

^ Incorrect Windshield Wiper Fuse

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

A number of 2009 model year Jaguar XF vehicles, dependent on their VIN, may have been manufactured with the following issues:

^ VIN R00001 - R18408: The windshield wipers cannot be turned 'off' while the ignition is switched 'on'.

^ VIN R00001 - R18232: A 20 amp fuse has been fitted instead of the correct 30 amp fuse in the windshield wiper circuit. During normal operation the wiper system will function normally at all wiper speeds. However, during wiper stall (for example: as a result of significant snow packing) the fuse may blow due to the higher stall loads and wiper operation may be lost.

Action:

Dealers are required to update the affected vehicles in their control and withhold them from retail delivery pending completion of the rework actions detailed in this bulletin. Vehicles in the hands of customers should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for the individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.

An update to the Owner's Handbook will also be required; a quantity of the supplement, Publication Part Number JSA 10 02 40 901, has already been mailed to each Dealer Principal. Additional copies may be downloaded and printed from the Vehicle Owner Information section of GTR.

Upon completion of the rework action, the vehicle may be released for sale or returned to the customer.
