'Creak' Noise From Roof Opening Panel - Repair Procedure





AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

A 'creak' noise may be evident from the roof area while driving with the roof opening panel closed. Dirt / dust ingress and environmental conditions may cause the roof opening panel seal to creak against the body / roof opening.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the roof opening panel seal.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REMOVING ROOF OPENING PANEL SEAL





1. Open the roof opening panel to the 'vent' position. (Figure 1)





2. Beginning at the rear edge, remove the roof opening panel seal from the channel. (Figure 2)





3. Close the roof opening panel; then, open roof opening panel to allow the wind deflector to fully open and allow adequate clearance to completely remove the roof opening panel seal. (Figure 3)

4. Close the roof opening panel; then, open roof opening panel to the
'vent' position. (Figure 1)

INSTALL ROOF OPENING PANEL SEAL





1. Locate roof opening panel seal joint / split line. (Figure 4)

2. Ensure roof opening panel seal location:

^ Joint / split line in center-rear of roof opening panel

^ Small 'flip' at bottom





3. Starting at the center-rear position, install the roof opening panel seal into the glass encapsulation channel, working all the way around the sides of the glass panel. (Figure 5)





4. Using a suitable plastic tool between the seal and the roof opening, carefully manipulate the seal into the glass encapsulated channel. (Figure 6)

5. Close the roof opening panel; then, open roof opening panel to allow the wind deflector to fully open and allow adequate clearance to the forward edge of the roof opening panel seal.





6. Beginning at the center-front of the glass panel, continue installing the seal. (Figure 7)





7. Ensure any slack is taken-up along the front edge. (Figure 8)

8. Close roof opening panel.





9. Ensure seal is fully installed. (Figure 9)
