Fuel Injector: Service and Repair



Fuel Injectors (18.10.02)

Removal

Vehicles with supercharger
1. Remove the charge air coolers.

Vehicles without supercharger
1. Remove the engine cover.

NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.

2. Remove the engine cover bracket.







All vehicles
1. Disconnect the fuel line.
2. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Detach the vacuum hose.







NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.

3. Detach the engine wiring harness.







NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.

4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.







5. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor electrical connector.







Vehicles without supercharger
1. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.







Vehicles with supercharger

NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.

1. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.







All vehicles
1. Remove the fuel injectors.
- Release the retaining clip.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.







Installation

All vehicles

WARNING:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- Do not carry or operate cellular phones when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.


1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new fuel injector O-ring seals. Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil to aid installation.







Vehicles with supercharger
1. Tighten to 7 Nm.







Vehicles without supercharger
1. Tighten to 22 Nm.







2. Tighten to 6 Nm.
