Complete Voice Range Not Transmitted From
Phone - Capacitor Characteristics
- Replace Voice Module

Issue:

Some 2004-05 XJ range vehicles within the above VIN range may exhibit a condition where the phone is not transmitting the complete voice range.

Note:
If the issue is with the volume level that the third party hears, it is a microphone issue and the repair is to be carried out as a separate Warranty Claim.

Cause:

A capacitor within the voice module has been found to be acting as a high level filter meaning that not all of the sound wave is being transmitted. This particularly affects the lower end of the sound wave, therefore the issue will be prevalent when the speaker has a deeper voice.

Action:

Should a customer express concern, install a new voice activation module - see Global Technical Reference (GTR) Workshop Manual, section: 419-10.
