B : Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0405 indicates exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve malfunction, short to battery/12volts

G187746t7 : CHECK FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
1. Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector PI 15.
2. TURN ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Measure the voltage at PI 15 pin 4 (YU).

- Is the voltage more than 1 volt?

-> Yes

1. Disconnect ECM electrical connector PI 1.
2. Measure the voltage at PI 15 pin 4 (YU).

- Is the voltage more than 1 volt?

-> Yes
REPAIR circuit between the PI 1 pin 57 (YU) and the EGR valve electrical connector PI 15 pin 4 (YU). CLEAR DTC. To validate fix drive vehicle between 30 mph (48 kph) and 40 mph (64 kph). Allow vehicle to idle for 2 minutes.

-> No
INSTALL a new ECM. CLEAR DTC. To validate fix drive vehicle between 30 mph (48 kph) and 40 mph (64 kph). Allow vehicle to idle for 2 minutes.
