Inspection and Verification
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

- Fuses
- Wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connections
- Anti-lock brake control module with or without traction control or dynamic stability control (DSC)
- Audio Control Module (ACM) (optional)
- Driver Door Module (DDM)
- Driver Seat Module (DSM) (optional)
- Dual Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) Module
- Restraint Control Module (RCM)
- Rear Electronics Module (REM)
- General Electronics Module (GEM)
- Steering Column Lock Module (SCLM)

- Vehicle Emergency Monitor System (VEMS)
- Voice Activated Control Module (VACM)
- Electronic throttle control module (ETCM)
- Adaptive damping control module (ADCM)
- Navigation computer (NC)

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect PDU Tester to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from PDU Tester menu. If PDU Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
- check that the program card is properly installed.
- check that the correct version of the program card is installed.
- check the connections to the vehicle.
- check the ignition switch position.

4. If the concern is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart.
