Throttle Body: Service and Repair



WARNING: WHEN RELIEVING COOLING SYSTEM PRESSURE, COVER THE EXPANSION TANK CAP WITH A THICK CLOTH TO PREVENT THE POSSIBILITY OF SCALDING. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate has a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.

Removal
1. Turn the expansion cap counterclockwise a quarter turn to relieve the cooling system pressure.
2. Retighten the expansion tank cap.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.





4. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and electronic throttle body electrical connectors.





5. Detach the throttle body.





6. Discard the throttle body gasket.





7. Remove the throttle body.
Disconnect the coolant hoses.


Installation





NOTE: Install a new throttle body gasket.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Fill up the cooling system as required.
