Intake Manifold: Service and Repair



Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the throttle body.





4. Disconnect the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) valve electrical connector.





5. Disconnect the vacuum hose connector from the EGR vacuum regulator valve,





6. Remove the intake manifold tuning valve cover.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the intake manifold tuning valve cover.





7. Disconnect the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor electrical connector.





8. Disconnect the hoses from the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor.





9. Disconnect the inlet and outlet intake manifold coolant hoses.





10. Disconnect the purge line tube.





11. Detach the EGR valve.





12. Remove the intake manifold bracket securing bolt.





13. Remove the intake manifold bracket securing bolt.





14. Remove the intake manifold securing bolts.
Remove the fuel pulse damper protective bracket.
15. Displace the intake manifold.





16. Disconnect the engine breather hose and the intake manifold tuning valve electrical connector.





17. Remove the intake manifold.
Discard the intake manifold gaskets.

Installation

1. NOTE: The intake manifold retaining bolts in position 1, 2, 3 and 4 are longer than the retaining bolts in position 5, 6, 7 and 8.











To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Install new intake manifold gaskets.
Install a new EGR valve gasket.

2. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy.





Connect the battery ground cable.
3. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
