Paints

The color basecoat paints used on the XK8 during manufacture will be water based instead of solvent based as a running change To differentiate the two types of paint, water based paints have a four digit JBC number which always begins with the number 1. Colors retained from the previous Model Year have 1 added to the front of the existing JBC number and are allocated a new three letter sales code, e.g. JBC 753, HFB (solvent based) British Racing Green becomes JBC 1753, HGD (water based). For repairs, all colors are available in both water based and solvent based formats.

To assist engine cooling, the lower rear edge of the front bumper cover has been cut away to enlarge the air intake opening.
