Security and Central Locking

Owing to the high level of commonality between these two systems, diagnosis is now combined under a single option.

Audible Warnings

Audible warning features can now only be tested by selecting the system that generates the warning. There are two audible warning options: KEY IN (North America), and Air bag.

Windows

The diagnostic strategy is similar to that introduced for the XK8 by PDU 1040. However, no provision is made for the "top and bottom window learning" feature, as position sensing is not used on the V8 Sedan Range.

Operators should be aware that stalled window motor testing takes more than 3 minutes per window to perform. This is due to activity of the thermal switch, which opens at 70 degrees Celsius and remains open for approximately 3 minutes. The PDU cannot perform a short circuit test on the motor until the thermal switch has closed.
