Throttle Intake Elbow Replace
Removal
1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection sheets.
2. Disconnect the battery.
(1) Remove the battery cover.
(2) Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the air cleaner cover/intake assembly.
4. Remove the throttle assembly.
5. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve if fitted.
6. At the right-hand side of the induction elbow remove the bolt which secures the induction elbow to the elbow support plate.
(1) Release the brake servo vacuum pipe and disconnect the pipe.
7. Disconnect the pipes and support plate at the left-hand side of the induction elbow.
(1) Disconnect the vacuum pipe from the T piece.
(2) Disconnect the breather hose T piece.
(3) Remove the bolt which secures the induction elbow to the elbow support plate.
(4) Loosen but do not remove the two lower bolts securing the induction elbow support plate to the engine bracket.
8. Remove tfl6 induction elbow from the vehicle.
(1) Release and pull back the bypass hoses securing clips.
(2) Remove the four bolts which secure the induction elbow to the supercharger.
(3) Pull off the induction elbow hoses from the charge air cooler stub pipes and remove the assembly from the vehicle.
(4) Remove the induction elbow to supercharger gasket.
9. Remove the by-pass valve assembly from the induction elbow.
(1) Remove the two bolts which secure the by-pass assembly to the induction elbow.
(2) Remove the by-pass assembly from the elbow and discard the 'O' ring.
Installation
1. Fit the by-pass valve assembly to the induction elbow.
(1) Fit a new O ring to the by-pass valve assembly. Lubricate the O ring with petroleum jelly.
(2) Fit the by-pass assembly to the induction elbow and fit the two securing bolts.
2. Fit the induction elbow to the supercharger.
(1) Fit two bolts to the induction elbow and fit a new gasket.
(2) Position the induction elbow assembly with the by-pass hoses located on the charge air cooler stub pipes.
(3) Fit and tighten the four bolts securing the induction elbow to the supercharger.
(4) Position the hose securing clips.
3. Fit the left-hand support bracket to the induction elbow and reconnect the pipework.
(1) Fit the support bracket upper securing bolt and tighten.
(2) Fully tighten the two support bracket lower securing bolts.
(3) Reconnect the breather/purge pipe T-piece to the induction elbow.
(4) Reconnect the vacuum pipe to the induction elbow.
4. Fit the right-hand support bracket to the induction elbow.
(1) Fit the support bracket upper securing bolt and tighten.
5. Fit the exhaust gas re-circulation valve (EGR) if applicable..
6. Fit the throttle assembly.
7. Fit the air cleaner cover/intake assembly.
8. Reconnect the battery.
9. Remove the paintwork protection sheets and close the engine cover.
