Incorrect Emission Control Label - Install Revised Label - Canadian Vehicles Service Action S691
THIS SERVICE ACTION APPLIES TO CANADIAN VEHICLES ONLY REFER TO TECHNICAL BULLETIN 05.1-32 FOR U.S. VEHICLES.
ISSUE:
On all 1995 Model Year XJR Sedan Models within the above VIN range, the factory-installed Emission Control Data Label ("Tune-up Label") was incorrectly specified. This label is applied to the crossmember above the radiator, within the engine compartment. 1995 MY XJ6 4.0L Sedan models with naturally-aspirated AJ16 engines are NOT affected.
The existing label implies that the engine is equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation system which is not the case.
This Service Action should be performed at the first service opportunity.
ACTION:
On all 1995 MY XJR vehicles, proceed as follows:
1. Check the driver's door B-pillar area for an R691 authorized modification label used both in Canada, as well as U.S.A. (Illustration 1). If no label is found, continue with step 2.
2. Identify the Emission Control Data Label ("Tune-up Label"), located on the left side of the cross panel above the radiator (Illustration 2).
3. Clean off the existing label.
4. Apply the replacement label over the old label.
5. Apply an R691 authorized modification label to the Driver side B-pillar. (This label will immediately indicate to any other Dealer that the vehicle concerned has already been rectified).
PARTS INFORMATION:
The replacement self-adhesive labels will be supplied to you direct, on a free-of-charge basis, in adequate quantity.

NOTE:
Always perform a DCS claim search first to determine whether this recall has been performed on this vehicle. The warranty selection under the vehicle inquiry will give a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If S691 appears in the fault code field, do not perform this service action.
Note:
This Service Action applies to Canadian vehicles only. In the event of a U.S. vehicle requiring this action in the Canada, refer to Technical Bulletin 05.1-32, "Recall R691" - Incorrect Emission Control Label - Install Revised Label. This same repair is a Recall in the U.S.A.
The same modification is used for vehicles in both the U.S.A. and Canada countries.
