Left Hand

AIR RAIL (LEFT HAND)

Depressurize the fuel system. Service and Repair

Disconnect the purge control valve hose.

Remove the screw securing the balance pipe to the manifold, remove the pipe.

Disconnect the left hand cold start injector.

Slacken off the link pipe hose to fuel cooler hose clip.

Remove the screw securing the link pipe to the manifold.

Disconnect the link pipe from the fuel cooler.

Remove the bolts securing the amplifier, displace the earth lead and reposition the amplifier over the engine.

Disconnect the amplifier block and snap connectors.

Disconnect the left hand throttle rod.

Disconnect the kickdown switch feed wires.

Disconnect the throttle outer cable from the pedestal.

Cut and remove the clips securing the cable harness to the manifold cross pipe.

Disconnect the manifold cross pipe.

Slacken off the left hand air rail hose clips (3).

Remove the air rail clamp screws (1).

Displace the amplifier harness 'P' clip from rear clamp.

Slacken off the actuator cable bracket to left hand manifold securing screw, and reposition the bracket from the manifold.

Remove the air rail clamp nuts (2). Displace the clamps to the top of the pipes and secure the clamps with tape

Remove the air rail assembly (4) from the engine.

Remove the tapes, clamps, hose assembly and 'P' clips.

Remove and discard sealing rings (5) from manifold.

Fit new sealing rings to the replacement air rail. Fit the 'P' clips into position on the rail. Tape the clamps into position at the top of the pipes. Fit the assembly to position on the manifold. Remove the tape, position the clamps, fit and tighten the securing nuts and hose clip. Refit the actuator bracket, amplifier harness and air rail clamp screws.

Refit the manifold cross pipe.

Refit the throttle outer cable and kickdown switch harness.

Fit the throttle rod and amplifier.

Refit the fuel cooler link pipe and cold start injector. Refit the balance pipe.
