Throttle Cable
Throttle Cable:
PURPOSE AND OPERATION
A throttle cable connects throttle pedal to a bellcrank, located on top of throttle pedestal in rear center of engine. Bellcrank has a linkage rod connected to each throttle plate. As pedal is pushed toward floor, cable pulls on bellcrank which causes throttle shaft to rotate, opening throttle butterfly valve. This allows more air to enter engine causing engine speed to increase. Throttle cable must be in proper adjustment to allow full throttle and operation of transmission kickdown switch.
