Fuel Injector Resistor: Description and Operation
Power Resistor:
PURPOSE AND OPERATION
Power resistors are required for ECU protection. A fairly high current is needed to open injectors at speeds required by engine. ECU has an output stage to deliver this current. To protect output transistors in ECU from injector faults, a power resistor is wired in series with each three injectors. Resistors will limit current to safe values, providing protection for ECU.
LOCATION
Power resistors are housed in a single unit mounted in engine compartment on right fender panel.
